The beauty of weddings is that they can take place anywhere, anytime, under any circumstances! In terms of locations, we have witnessed and photographed them at churches, hotels, beaches, living rooms, hotel rooms… you name it, we’ve probably done it!
Today I’m so happy to feature a very sweet wedding that took place in the back yard of a beautiful house on Bowen Island. Mary and Danny wanted to keep the wedding pretty intimate with only very close friends and family. What does that mean for their photographer? Well… when you have close friends and family, you get to witness a lot of sweet moments, great expressions, and share many laughs!
Currently residing and working as doctors in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Mary and Danny had their wedding here at Mary’s stepfather’s house in Bowen Island. Having only met them via Skype prior to their big day, I already knew what sweet people they were and this was going to be a fun wedding!
With musical talents within’ the family and the introduction of “screech in” for many guests and myself, it was smiles all day! A screech-in, by the way, is apparently a Newfoundland tradition where you kiss the a fish and take a shot of Screech Rum. Mary and Danny called out each guest’s name, they came up, kissed the fish, took a shot, and received their official certificate! What a festive way to bring a piece of Newfoundland to their Vancouver wedding!
Take a peek at some of the great moments and fun at this lovely couple’s wedding!
