Gelin & Matt | The Wedding Yacht | Vancouver

It’s about time we posted this very heartwarming wedding! The lovely couple in this story… Gelin and Matt. I think I’ve said this before but they are such sweet people! So I it’s safe to say we get the sweetest people hiring us to capture their big day.

Their families and guests were just so nice and polite all day and all evening. It was just a beautiful wedding from start to finish. The weather was perfect and that made for a stunning wedding on The Wedding Yacht. With the wind blowing (and waves crashing for a bit – funny story ahead), the ceremony was just magical.

Matt got his first look at his beautiful bride at the Loden Hotel where they proceeded to serve their elders tea during the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Before heading to the yacht for the ceremony, we had a chance for a creative session around the Vancouver Convention Centre.

The excitement started to build as we headed to the yacht. As I crouched at the front of the ceremony at the end of the aisle waiting for Gelin to walk down with her equally amazing father, the yacht started to rock left to right. We must’ve caught the wake from a larger boat passing by. This made probably the most interesting walk-down-the-aisle I’ve ever captured. Just as they reached the front, there was a big wave and I caught Gelin’s dad’s arm just in time. Photog to the rescue ;)

We had a chance for a few more shots with Gelin and Matt on the yacht before the reception started. A very lovely reception, with very touching speeches. From the Jenga guest sign-in blocks, to the people, to the beautiful view of Vancouver from the middle of the harbour, it was an amazing day. Oh and of course, with fellow Singaporeans on board, there was the big “Yum Sing” from Gelin’s dad. No wedding is complete without that special Singaporean toast to the bride and groom.

Congratulations or should I say “yuummmmmmmmmmmmmmm siiiiiing!” once again to the lovely couple!
