WEDDING FAQ:

Why hire a professional wedding photographer?
With months of careful planning and organization to create your perfect wedding, it would be a shame to let that memory fade away, without professional documentation of that day. Your wedding photographer is also qualified to help and advise you on all the details of the big event. With close contacts and working relationships with a variety of local wedding vendors, churches, venues, and so forth, your photographer is a wealth of information. Choosing a professional photographer is perhaps the most important decision you’ll have to make when planning your wedding.

Why should we hire Butter Studios?
At Butter Studios, we value our clients and their photographic needs. We will arrange a pre-wedding meeting to discuss your wedding day and help determine the amount of time you will need for your wedding day. We allow you to inspect samples of our albums and our previous work. This meeting also gives us a chance to get to know your personal styles, wants and needs, which will enable us to create excellent photographs. After the initial meeting we are available to answer any questions, and are open to working closely with the client every step of the way. We are truly delighted when a couple chooses Butter Media Inc. as their wedding photographers. We bring years of experience and creative excellence to the job, we ensure that every important moment is captured in beautiful and breathtaking images.

Are you familiar with ethnic wedding ceremonies?
We are extremely fortunate to be photographers in one of the most multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious countries in the world. At Butter Studios, we are extremely knowledgeable and familiar with Western, Chinese, Korean, Greek Orthodox, Indian, Ismali, Serbian, and Filipino style weddings and traditions, among others.

How many cameras do you use and do you bring back-up equipment?
The main photographer brings with them two camera bodies and a number of lenses, flashes, batteries, memory cards, etc. The assistant photographer will also have one or two camera bodies on them at all times. We are always prepared for emergency situations and for equipment failure.

How many pictures to you typically take for each wedding?
It depends on the number of hours booked. Typically for a 10 hour wedding, we will usually take between 750-1000 photos, of which you will receive.

Are the photos all edited?
Yes, all photographs given to you by Butter Studios will be edited. Each individual photo will be colour corrected and ready for print. Depending on the photographic package you choose, we do include a number of post-processed photos in a separate folder. These photos are processed further into images that are b&w, sepia tone, cross-processed, etc.

Do you provide on-line capabilities for family and friends to view the wedding photos?
Absolutely! We offer a user-friendly online proofing and shopping cart system that is password protected and online for one year. This is a great way to share with your friends and loved ones your wedding day. The online album is provided for you approximately six weeks from your wedding date.

Who chooses the photos for the wedding album?
A wedding album consultation will be set up approximately 8 to 10 weeks after your wedding date. Depending on the package, we will pre-design a number of album pages for you to select from. Butter Media Inc. retains all creative control over album layout and designs.

How long does it take to get our photos and the wedding album?
All photos on flash drive will be given to you along with the printed album approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the wedding album consultation.

Are we able to add additional hours to the photography coverage on the wedding day?
Yes, you may wish to extend the shooting time on the day of the wedding. There is an additional fee of $500 per hour or $300 per half hour and we must have verbal consent from both the bride and groom.

What is the payment schedule?
A non-refundable $2000 deposit for photography and $1500 for videography is payable by Visa/MasterCard, E-mail interac, Cash or Cheque is due at the time of signing of the wedding contract. The remainder is due in full at time of wedding in cash, email interac or cheque.

BOUDOIR FAQ:

What is boudoir photography?
Boudoir photography is considered to many, the art of visually capturing beautiful, sensuous and sexy photos of all women regardless of age and weight. The purpose of boudoir photography is to make women look great!

Why have a boudoir shoot?
Why not? There are a number of reasons to do a boudoir photo shoot. Here are a few:
* An unforgettable gift for your boyfriend, husband, or partner on occasions such as Valentines, your wedding, anniversaries, birthdays and much more.
* A secret and personal gift to yourself.
* Self confidence booster

Do I need to have modelling experience?
NO, Most people are not professional models. We expect that you will be a bit nervous, but that is OK, we will guide you.

Do I need to be over 18 years old?
YES, for boudoir, lingerie, nudes, etc.

What should I wear?
Whatever you want! As long as its something you are comfortable in and it makes you feel great!! But really…anything goes…sexy lingerie, fish nets, heels, men’s button down shirts and ties, even cute shorts and fun knee highs! If you want these pictures for someone special, its always fun to include something of theirs in the shoot… a favourite hat, a jersey from his/her favourite sports team, etc. Also please come with clean hair, nails and face. Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure before the shoot since your hands and feet will be in a lot of the boudoir portraits.

What about props?
You might want to bring other items with you: special jewellery, favourite shoes, or symbolic props. We also provide a range of props such as feather fans, hats, jewelry, etc.

Do you recommend that I use a make-up artist and hair stylist?
Yes! We often use Margaret Lai, a well-know Vancouver make-up and hair stylist and she is available for a reasonable fee. Margaret is highly skilled at her craft. You can visit her work at www.margaretlai.com.

Who will be at the session?
You, me, and on occasion a female assistant or the make-up artist.

Can I bring alcohol?
We are unable to provide you with any sort of alcohol before, during or after the shoot. You are however, more than welcome to bring your own if that takes the edge off your nerves.

Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely! Friends are great for moral support, and if they’ll make you feel more comfortable and help you loosen up, then definitely bring them along! Of course there won’t be room for your whole group of friends, but 1 or 2 are more than welcome!

How long does it take to get the images after the session?
It typically takes 15-20 days to edit your photos and deliver them to you.

What if I need to change my appointment?
To change your appointment, please contact us within three working days of your appointment so we can inform any assistants and/or make up artists. To change your appointment date please call 604-782-6460 asap.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Our $100 retainer to secure your date is non-refundable. To cancel your appointment date please call 604-782-6460.

What about security and privacy of my photographs?
I maintain the security and privacy of all clients photographs. After shooting and viewing I stored the photographs in a safe location, where they cannot be accessed by anyone, apart from myself. No clients photographs can be used by Butter Media Inc. without formal consent in the way of model release forms signed by you, the client.

What is a model Release?
At the end of every session, I will asked if you would be willing to sign a Model Release Form. The model release would enable me to use your photos in my portfolio (web or printed), and for any promotion I might do for future Boudoir work.

Do I get an online gallery of my portraits?
Yes we will send you an email with a link to our online gallery. This gallery is password protected and you are the only one that will receive this information. You may share it with your friends if you wish.

How do you accept payment?
Currently, we accept cash, cheque, visa, mastercard or paypal as forms of payment. Please ensure to have full payment with you on the day of the shoot. All package prices are subject to HST.

Who owns copyright of the images taken?
All images taken by Butter Media Inc. is under Copyright of Butter Media Inc.

What else?
Please arrive on time so that we time to prepare and choose the best outfits. Especially for boudoir marathons, we do not make up the time missed if you are late for your appointment.

PORTRAIT FAQ:

What kind of portrait sessions do you offer?
Our full-service studio allows us to capture your every photographic needs. This includes: headshots, maternity, newborn and infant sessions, family shoots, commercial and special event photography. We are not limited to the studio, but upon request we can photograph at any location within Metro Vancouver.

What should we bring with us to the shoot?
We would suggest you bring with you at least three difference changes of clothes. Solid colours are great. Try to stay away from anything too patterned and ensure that your clothes are pressed or ironed as wrinkles have a way of showing up on camera. Also have personal care items on premises, such as brush, comb, hairspray, make-up, lipstick, mirror, hair clips, etc. You are more than welcome to bring any jewellery, shoes, and any props you wish to use in the shoot.

When should we schedule our Maternity Session?
We recommend that you schedule your maternity session at least a month prior to your due date. Five to six weeks to the baby’s expected arrival is ideal!

When should we schedule our Newborn Session?
We recommend that you schedule your newborn session within 10 days of birth. This is to ensure that the baby is sleeping during the session and easily moveable. We recommend that you bring with along a bottle of formula to help the newborn in to a deep sleep.

What should we know about children sessions or family sessions?
We recommend that you schedule shoots of your children with their nap schedules in mind. Earlier in the day often work better for kids. It’s great to bring with you any favorite toys or noise makers to get their attention.

What if my child is not in a good mood at the shoot?
Re-shoots are subject to an additional charge.
